Conférence Under Her Eye: Women and Climate Change

‘This isn’t climate change; it’s EVERYTHING change’ – Under Her Eye Ambassador and Speaker Margaret Atwood

Booker-prize winning author Margaret Atwood is the headline speaker and ambassador of ‘Under Her Eye: Women and Climate Change’, an international Summit and Arts Festival that will explore and celebrate the role of women taking action on climate change, as part of the 2018 Suffrage Centenary.

As the UN Special Envoy on Climate Change Mary Robinson asserted: ‘the challenges of climate change cannot be solved without empowering women’. Throughout the day a range of panel talks, in-conversations, workshops and performances will engage, provoke and inspire on this topic.

A key area of focus is climate’s link to health, wellbeing and social justice – all tied together by the role the arts can play in influencing thinking and sparking debate.

On 2 June audiences are invited to a range of free artistic interventions and workshops exploring climate change and the Library also hosts a Microclimate Sensory Banquet (separate ticket required).
